Rokeby House Reviews

The heating was timed to go entirely off overnight which meant we were very cold in the top rooms on the first night. Also the kitchen could do with a few more basics e.g the mugs were all chipped and there was no salt and pepper, the oven was extremely slow to heat up. These were the only two negatives though, the house overall was lovely clean and cosy with lots of space and fantastic views on the sea facing side. It also had a great location, halfway down the hill which was ideal for some of the older members of our group.
Sharon
The property was lovely and big enough for the family. A small issue with the cleanliness. I had to clean the main living space as there was black fluff and hair everywhere maybe from the previous tenants dog ? Not enough mugs for the property. It was lovely and warm. Good heating system for the time of year.
Carron
Well stocked large kitchen, comfy lounge with seaview but the cream sofa covers look grubby cream in a rental never really works Lovely large bed in main bedroom, shame about the shower as it is very poor lights not working, water flow terrible. The description stated a wood burning stove with starter kit. This is incorrect. The fire is electric. The house would of been a wonderful family home in it's day
Beautiful property with wonderful coastal views from the balcony. We enjoyed our stay in Robin Hoods Bay so much, we have booked to come back next year. Hopefully the stairs from the balcony to the outside path will be accessible next year. One slight niggle was, the previous guests had left a bag of rubbish in the front garden.
Olivia
There were lots of lovely things about the cottage. Like the views, plenty of space and very comfortable. However, there were a few issues too. It didnt seem to have been hoovered when we arrived, so there was quite a lot of dust and hair on the carpets. Also, there were already bin bags in the one small outside bin. As a group of 8, we filled the remaining space pretty quickly and then one night a wild animal tore the bags open and we had to bring bin bags in each night. A second outdoor bin is needed really. Also, the drain outside is blocked, so whenever someone had a shower or the dishwasher was on, water would run down the steps outside. And on the last day the boiler stopped working!
Anthony
Beautiful view from patio, lovely and cool inside in red hot weather
Daniel
Great holiday and a lovely house. The only slight negative were the flies in the kitchen not sure what the cause was but could do with attending to. Otherwise, perfect. Thanks.
We have stayed in many cottages in RHB for the Folk Weekend since 2011. This is the best yet. Booked for next year.
Sophie
A beautiful property in a beautiful location! The views are stunning.
Had a fabulous stay in Robin Hoods Bay with our family, the house was perfect for us with amazing views of the sea. Unfortunately we couldn't get the heating to work even tho there was instructions on how to turn it on, wasn't sure if it was the correct instructions for that boiler. With having no heating ment he bedrooms were cold and there was no hot water and had to boil the kettle for hot water . Luckily there was the heater fire in the main room and the electric shower in the main bedroon that we all had to use. Because we were there for a couple of nights it wasn't too bad but any longer it would have been a problem.
We had a fabulous stay once we found the house, we arrived in the dark and as the house was down an alleyway took us quite a while to locate. We would definitely stay here again but there were just a few things that would make the stay even more special. The house was quite grubby, lots of dust and cobwebs and the sofas were very stained. There was a washing machine which was fantastic for a longer stay especially walking in the wet but there was nowhere to hang washing to dry there is a dryer but not everything can go in that an airer would be good. There was no dustpan or mop so we didn't feel we could leave the house as we would have liked as we had a dog who walked in muddy footprints. Also the lights in the shower didn't work so if you had a shower at night it was very dark in there. Don't let this put you off, it's a fabulous house in a fabulous location and perfect for groups . Lots of good walks from the door and some great local pubs serving very good food
Such a beautiful house in a stunning location with incredible views, it was the perfect place to celebrate my husband's birthday. We've been taking UK breaks for over 30 years, Rokeby House is my favourite place of the countless holidays we've taken. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this beautiful house in this stunning historic village.
Alison
Lovely comfortable house ,with the added bonus of the sea view. Cosy comfortable beds and bedding. Some area could do with a dust wipe cobwebs on hall lights skirting board in top bathroom, top of bin in kitchen Recommendations Bin in top bathroom Some small serving dishes Rubbish issues dealt with quickly. Thank you we would stay again Ru
